Dec 28โ€“29 ยท For Brightpaths Athens

24-Hour Row Marathon

Crews take turns on a rower for 24 straight hours at FTP to raise money for Brightpaths Athens. Every meter on the board counts toward the total.

The basics

What the event is

Last year a single crew of four rowed 339,000 meters and raised over $20,000. This year we have 8 teams plus a community rower, with a goal of more than $50,000 for Brightpaths.

  • When

Monday, December 28 at 8:00am to Tuesday, December 29 at 8:00am.

  • Where

Fine Tuned Performance, 1071 Jamestown Blvd, Unit D2, Watkinsville.

  • How it works

A crew of four keeps one rower moving for 24 hours. They split into two pairs, and each pair trades 10-minute turns for 80 minutes before handing off to the other pair. A 12-hour option runs 8:00am to 8:00pm.

  • Community rower

No team? Drop in any time and take a turn on the community rower. Your meters count toward the total.

  • Come cheer

Stop by any time during the 24 hours. Brightpaths is hosting a happy hour with a food truck from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Monday.

Where the money goes

Brightpaths Athens

Brightpaths Athens, formerly Prevent Child Abuse Athens, works to prevent child abuse and neglect across Athens and the surrounding counties by supporting parents and families.

Supporters pledge a dollar amount for every so many meters a team rows, and 100% of those pledges go straight to Brightpaths. Local businesses sponsor the cost of putting on the event, so every pledge dollar stays with the cause.
