The FTP Method
Our philosophy at Fine Tuned Performance is simple: Feel Better. Move Better. Perform Better. That’s how we approach every patient who walks through our doors, and that’s how we make sure that everyone finishes their plan of care in a better place than where they started it.
Feel Better.
Our patients typically start in the Feel Better stage, where they may be feeling some pain or dealing with an issue that’s keeping them from doing what they love. In your initial evaluation, your physical therapist will spend a good amount of time focusing on your injury or pain point, what the root causes may be, and what your goals are. The first step in every plan of care here at FTP is to get you out of pain.
Move Better.
After we’ve worked on your pain a little and given you movements to help you find some relief, we’ll move on to the Move Better stage. Here, you and your physical therapist will focus on making your movements efficient and effective to keep you from injuring yourself again and ending up back in stage one. Because our clinic doesn’t just stop with getting you out of pain, this stage is essential to improving your overall fitness journey.
Perform Better.
While this final stage is very much rehab-focused, your physical therapy visits may begin to look like a training session in this stage. Of course, these training sessions will be tailored to what you were doing before your injury— running, playing football, or golfing, for example— because we want to not only finalize your recovery from your previous injury but also keep you as safe as possible from future injuries. This could also look like working on movements specific to your preferred sport or activity in order to help you reach your athletic goals most effectively.
Ultimately, our goal is to get you out of pain and keep you out of pain.
We just don’t believe in taking you completely out of your sport or activity in order to rehabilitate you. Though that may sometimes be necessary, depending on the nature of your injury (that will come to light in our initial evaluation), there is almost always something we can do in our gym to get you started on your rehab journey with movements that are proactive and purposeful. Because of our unique, performance-based method, your first appointment will most definitely not look like your last appointment. While some of this recovery happens on your end— doing your exercises at home and only sticking to the allowed level of participation in your sport or activity— we will be there to guide you through it, one stage at a time.
Let’s get you feeling better, moving better, and performing better!
