Our Clinic Looks Like a Gym— Here’s Why.
When you walk into Fine Tuned Performance, passing by our lobby area and main office, you’ll see that the back portion of our space is a fully-equipped gym.
This isn’t typical of physical therapy offices, and it’s what sets Fine Tuned Performance apart from the rest!
Most physical therapy offices don’t look like this, and some people might get the wrong idea about our space.
We are a physical therapy clinic offering doctorate-level care, first and foremost. However, we are also passionate about facilitating goal-setting and goal-reaching with our patients, so our space has to fit the vision that makes us different from your everyday, run-of-the-mill physical therapy office.
While some of our patients may be rehabbing by lifting a significant amount of weight, pushing a heavy sled, or sprinting on the treadmill, some of the rehab that takes place in our gym looks like this initial evaluation after a bunionectomy. Because this was only about three weeks after surgery, her movements look different from the movements she’ll be doing later on.
The equipment we have is extremely versatile, and we use some of it in every physical therapy appointment we have.
The reason we have it is because we want to make sure we have every tool necessary so that you can feel better, move better, and perform better. When you come for your appointment, you’ll spend the majority of your time in the gym learning exercises you can do at home (based on the equipment you have access to) and practicing those exercises.
Spoiler: she’s back to running and box-jumping to her heart’s content now!
We want to make sure that you’re going above and beyond what you were doing before to make sure that your injury is getting better, so our equipment has to match that.
Here at FTP, there is a certain intensity that develops in your rehab as you progress further, and this equipment is necessary to facilitate that. Without that intensity, your recovery is prolonged to a point where it doesn’t need to be. We have all this equipment not so that you can max out here during your appointment to rehabilitate your shoulder or your knee, but so that you can learn a healthy way to strengthen those injured or sore muscles and joints.
